The 11th Annual Spring Salute Awards Reception was a huge success! Developer Terry McGrath allowed us to use the Napa Ruins at American Canyon which was transformed into an Urban Jungle by Jackie and her Crew from Suite Treatments. We honored our President G Anthony Phillips with the Lou Franchimon Lifetime Achievement award, and we honored Congressman Mike Thompson by naming our first Legislative Legacy award after him and it will be awarded every year to the elected official that has dedicated a career to fighting for working people. And of course, we honored a number of affiliates, members, elected officials and community allies on a beautiful day at a magical setting. If you missed it you can watch it by going to:
But it wasn’t all perfect! The porta potties never showed up. Do not use United Site Services! Thankfully, we identified, adapted and overcame it with a little help from vintner Salvador Ramos who delivered one onsite and saved the day! And of course, in my befuddled state of mind I forgot to mention from the stage a couple of supporters. Most notably CTA as well as the group of young men and women from the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs group who helped set up and serve. My apologies to those Sib’s and anyone else I might have failed to mention.
